Advent 2017

Well here we are in England for Christmas so I thought that now would be a good opportunity to send an update on what we have done.

Star Charger is in New Zealand! We have sailed half way round the world, 25,000NM in four years. We have crossed two oceans and done five passages over 1,000NM. If you have not been following us then you can either go to our blog http://blog.mailasail.com/starcharger or come to dinner!

The best thing that happened this year was that Josh, well Becky really, produced our first Grandson! Euan was born on the 13th May and has been a delight ever since.

We moved house in February (just in case you missed that event!), our new address is above. We are beginning to get the hang of the new house. We also bought a 1931 MG which is great fun.

As for our year back in the UK it started superbly with a lovely sail from Falmouth to Portsmouth with our great friends Danielle and Jack (and Ben joined for a bit too). Much colder than our usual sail but very beautiful all the same. Other highlights of the year, Tot on Tour in Hartlepool, The Ceremony of the keys at the Tower of London, followed by drinks, a huge privilege, thanks Sean. Then a splendid day at Henley. Followed by the Festival of Speed, always fun. We drove the Lotus down to the South of France, a relaxing couple of weeks and perhaps the last real outing for the car! Another trip to Goodwood for the Revival was a bit of a washout, a weekend of rain! We spent a month in St Lucia, the first two weeks with Father. Four very great American friends sailed down to join us and we had the most awesome time. The second two weeks the Manley’s joined us for their usual holiday in the sun! A snap decision saw us spending a few days in Marrakesh. What an amazing place, so different to anywhere else we have been!

Wishing you all a great Christmas and Happy New Year, Alasdair and Gill.
