01 Leaving Christmas

Yesterday we slipped our mooring and headed west out into the Indian Ocean again, bound for Cocos Keeling. The wind is set to blow a fairly steady 15-20 knots from the SSE. Unfortunately there is also a nasty swell from the SE, so we are experiencing a corkscrew effect that is not the most pleasant motion!
As we sailed along the north coast of the island we saw two Golden Bosunbirds at close quarters, they are absolutely stunning birds and I am sure a good omen.
I came on watch at 05:00hrs to see the full moon set over the horizon it was lovely, and soon after the sun rose to brighten a new day!
