This week has been totally dominated by Gill flying home.... the hardest thing either of us have ever done. For me it reminds me just how much I love her. When we parted on Thursday it was for five months... but we have decided that is too long apart, so she will come to Darwin in two months time. Still a long separation but not so bad. And we have had so much positive support from our friends that we will make it!
We have also left our home, Whangarei. What a lovely place, filled with lovely people. We have made many good friends there and we will return. An emotional send off, tears on the dockside!
Now we are sailing up the coast back to Opua in the Bay of Islands. We will clear Customs there and head off as soon as we get a weather window. Hopefully next weekend, but I haven't checked today.
The boat is close to ready, the crew are excited and enthusiastic so that is good. It really is great to have started again. We are on the way home
