Yesterday was my birthday and I celebrated it sailing in the greatest regatta ever!
I am extremely fortunate to be sailing on our friend Roy's 1936 12 Ton Guantlet. Gill is on our friend Chuck's 1968 William Tripp Cutter.
Being on one of the smaller, older boats we are in the first start. Both days we have managed to cross the line first and reach the first mark still in the lead after that the bigger boats start to overhaul us. However it is just magnificent to see the beautiful boats sailing hard and at such close quarters. We have also taken line honours both days but been beaten on corrected time by a beautiful little Folkboat. We have two more days of racing to go and then we get our lives back! But this has been an amazing experience.
We can't thank Roy and Chuck enough for inviting us to sail with them
