"41.31.15S 171.56.25E" We had our second birthday party last Sunday. Eleanor turned 11, seen below with Hannah...both have had their hair curled by Gill. From Wanaka we moved north to Fox Glacier. Very sad, due to Climate Change and the retreat of the glacier you can no longer walk on it unless you get a helicopter ride up. We walked as far as we could which did involve walking round the signs stopping you....but everyone was doing the same! Unfortunately we failed to buy haggis for Burns Night but Hannah and Gill baked a cake and iced it in the shape of the Loch Ness Monster, brilliant. Our next stop was Greymouth, where we stayed in a motel....the rain finally got the better of us! After a great spa and a night drying out we moved on. Off the main road and a mile down a dirt road you find Gentle Annie campsite. What a fantastic place, yes rather damp under foot but so relaxed and so friendly. A beautiful location and wonderful grounds. I particularly like the "Cowshed", the cafe and common room, second photo! We met our friends from Zig Zag here, so thee boats touring... The beach has loads of drift wood to make fires and heat the pizza oven, third photo. We did drag ourselves away for a few walks, notably to some amazing limestone caves... Now planning our trip north ready for our flight home in ten days Love Alasdair, Gill, Habitat and Pickles, with Skylark and Zig Zag
