We are making great time, averaging 125 miles a day for the first three days...and we were expecting to have to motor! The weather is looking good for the run down to New Zealand with northerlies forecast from Tuesday.
The bad news is that we will be passing the Minerva a Reef at night so can't go in. I am disappointed that we won't be stopping at what was once described as the most remote anchorage on earth. However there is some weather expert telling everybody to consider stopping there to get the right weather for the drop down...there are three boats near us all of whom are considering it! So hardly as special as it was. To be anchored in the middle of an ocean with no land in sight, but with half a dozen boats doesn't have the same appeal somehow!
Also the Iridium has died again!! We tested it by telephoning both mothers...all fine. Tried to use it in anger to get a weather forecast, dead again! Fortunately a boat was fairly close and relayed their forecast.
Mia's birthday today so cooked breakfast and cake! The champagne will wait till we arrive!
All happy on board as it was shower night tonight...
Fair winds
