Setting off across the Pacific

Finally we are setting off. This morning we will leave Turtle Bay to start our 2700nm trip across the Pacific.  Yesterday we did our final checks to our safety equipment. Checking life-jackets and getting our grab bags ready. These are containers with flairs, medical supplies, hand held radios/ GPS, warm clothing, food, water, etc – for just in case we have to abandon ship.  Not a very pleasant task – but essential.  My theory is that is you are prepared for the worst, it never happens!

There have been many boats sheltering in Turtle Bay over the last few days – and some have already left, but we are talking it slow this morning.
Last night we had a final farewell with our friends from Tetu, and it was great to have someone to say goodbye to. Here is a picture of our last walk on land for a while – buying a few last minute things.
