Mike and I spent my birthday in the gorgeous town of Zihuatenejo  (pronounced SEE WHAT A NAY HO). This village has maintained much of its local flavour, while catering to tourists too, with lots of  resorts, bars & beach restaurants.  Mike says it’s the cleanest place he has seen in Mexico.  We had lunch, with some rather special mango margaritas at one of the beach restaurants, and they even made me a small ice-cream cake with a candle!  I am enjoying many of the Mexican food specialties, but Mike has to be careful as he can't handle the chili.   Luckily we both seem to be over the dreadful stomach problems.

From Zihuatenejo we headed up to Manzanilla, the biggest commercial port in Mexico.  Once again we saw lots of dolphin, turtles, birds and jumping rays along the way.  Entering the bay we passed by a number of massive ships waiting to enter the port, and we anchored off the beautiful Santiago peninsula at the Les Hades resort. This resort was used in the movie "10" with Bo Derek & Dudley Moore and has kept its glamour. There are quite few more resorts here now, with most keeping to  the whitewashed look with palm trees and bright pink bougainvilleas for colour.  For $15 a day we can tie up our dinghy at the resort and use the facilities, including the fabulous pool and many restaurants.
The anchorage is a bit rolly, but we have now perfected the stern anchor and it has made things a whole lot more comfortable.

As we are now at 104deg west - technically we are over one third the way around the world (Cape Town being at 18 deg east) but given how much north and south travel we have done over the last 4+ years it seems a lot further.  We have now done over 5000nm on Time2 .. which we need to add to our Indigo miles to see exactly how far we have travelled. (one day when we are bored!)

We are now only about 150nm from Puerto Vallarta, where we will pick up Mike's brother John next week, who is coming to visit us for 6 weeks.
