On Friday night we sailed through Port Everglades, up the
New River and to our slip between the Andrews Ave and 3rd Ave bridges. The
trip up from the harbour entrance up the river was about 5kms -
passing some spectacular homes, buildings and parks. At each bridge you
have to radio and then wait for an opening - a pretty efficient system for such
a busy waterway. We are now docked at one of the city marinas, which is not
really a marina, just a dock on the river wall, with a pedestal supplying
water, power and TV. It is a hive of activity - we have two busy bars close by
and have endless river traffic passing by. As the boats are moving slowly it is
not very disruptive at all. It is amazing to be right in the "thick of
things".
