Christmas in St Lucia

Christmas away from family and friends can be sad - but we chose to make the best of it. Did some shopping, made some new friends and even "decorated" Indigo with a few baubles and the miniature tree left over from the Governor's Cup trip of 2004.

We spent Xmas eve with Mercia and Joe on "Free to Be", and their marina neighbours, Cathy and Bill on "Pelican". We had a lovely dinner, including a baked ham, which Mike very efficiently carved.

On Christmas day, they all came over to Indigo, including the gorgeous little dog Coco. We had a lazy day on deck, swimming, drinking beer and having a light lunch.

and a last note ...on the weather. For those of you that have spent time in the Caribbean, you may of heard of the "Christmas winds". Well, we have experienced this weather phenomenon for the last week at least! The wind is howling (often up to 25kts) out of the north east, there is a big swell running (up to 3.5m) and it rains all the time. Not exactly what you expect in paradise! However, the weather gribs are showing that this will all pass early next week and we can go back to lighter winds, calmer seas and much more sunshine. So Monday or Tuesday we will continue our journey and sail up to Martinique.
