Marina Palmira, La Paz

We have been on the marina in La Paz for a week now. Firstly to drop of John who flew back to South Africa and then to decide on the road ahead.  While the Sea of Cortez has been very interesting and beautiful - and the guys did some amazing fishing - we have decided that we cannot spend another 4 more months here.  Being the hurricane season, we would have to head far north into the sea, where it is very desolate and extremely hot. Mike and I came to the same conclusion that we would be bored and frustrated.
We have considered leaving the boat in La Paz on the marina, but again the threat of hurricanes is real, and leaving the boat here would be stressful. We have therefore decided to head up to Ensenada, close to the Californian border.  Tomorrow we head out of La Paz and down toward Cabo San Lucas and thereafter we head north. It is a long trip and against wind and waves for much of the way ...they don’t call it the Baha Bash for nothing!  We will however take it slowly, watching the weather carefully and stopping where practical, rather than doing the 900nm in one stretch.
We have enjoyed our stay here on the marina and have met some very nice people - but it is time to move on.
