We dropped anchor in Bequia on Saturday morning at 2.30 am – pretty exhausted but very happy to be in the Caribbean and at the end of the long trip. For the next few months we will do no more than day sails as we island hop through the Windwards.  Bequia (pronounced Beck-wee) is a gorgeous island, the second biggest of St Vincent &  the Grenadines where the slogan on T-shirts reads "Sail Fast, Live Slow" ... or .. "Sail More, Work Less" – perfect for us!  The main town ( Port Elizabeth) is very colourful and perfectly set up for cruising yachtsmen. There are lots of places to stock up with food, boat spares, books, etc - as well as a large selection of bars and restaurants to keep us entertained. The anchorage is very clean and we can swim to a beautiful sandy beach about 150m from our yacht.  So we have been swimming,  kayaking, looking for crayfish (unsuccessfully) and enjoying chilling out. Last night we joined Jack from s/v Fantasy, in celebrating the completion of his circumnavigation – we have been sailing "together" since Forteleza.  The guys all had conch (pronounced conk)  which was very tasty and pretty similar to perlemoen, but I just had to have a salad – can't believe how much I have missed lettuce!   Love to all Lynn, Mike & Coenie x
