So it’s been heads down, focussing on the jobs list, preparing Macushla for haul out.

Our new “wheels” made life a whole lot easier, enabling us to get to our preferred artisans who are spread across various suburbs of Auckland.  The sails were taken off and away for servicing; the deck gear was stripped off; the running rigging was taken down and washed; the anchors were taken for re-galvanising; the DuoGen wind & water generator and the Hydrovane wind steering system have been removed from the stern; and the electrics have been disconnected at the mast.  Phew! Despite our manic schedule we had a long-booked treat in the form of a cinema screening of Tosca performed by the New Zealand Opera Company – absolutely brilliant.

We had an early morning haul out booked and left our Westhaven marina berth as a stunning dawn broke over the city.  In no time at all Macushla’s mast was removed and she was heading into the paint shed.
