Waewaetorea Bay, Bay of Islands
35:12.59S 174:13.27E We returned to Russell for a couple of days to re-stock on food and were soon laden with goodies and ready to set off again. Our friends Marce and Jack (sv Escape Velocity) arrived that afternoon and joined us aboard Macushla – always great to spend time with them. In the morning we were ready to take a ride on the outgoing tide and sailed over to Waewaetorea Passage on the north side of Urupukapuka Island. In spite of the brisk afternoon winds, we were perfectly protected and enjoyed another flat calm anchorage for the night. Skipper is enjoying sampling the variety of local brews with names such as Sassy Red, Mid-Vicious, and Hop Rocker and of course there’s the wonderful NZ wine for us to try as well!
