Montego Bay, Jamaica
18:27.70N 77:56.49W This passage was, as they say, ‘a game of two halves’. We started off with flat seas, light airs and very tight on the wind. With the addition of a slight adverse current, we needed to motorsail initially to make some reasonable progress and we hugged the south coast of Cuba until we could set a course for Montego Bay. By contrast the second night had us sailing tight on the wind with stronger trade winds and lumpy seas off Cabo Cruz, Cuba. All in all fast and a bumpy ride. We were very glad to arrive in Montego Bay, Jamaica and anchored off the Montego Bay Yacht Club, who kindly arranged for the various officials from Immigration, Customs and Health, to come and see us. We met up again with Brent and Ana (Impi) who had arrived a few hours ahead of us and enjoyed a delightful arrival beer with them as the formalities were completed. |
