The Heiva Festival: Polynesian Dancing & Flowers galore

No blog post about Tahiti and its Heiva Festival would be complete without a mention of the wonderful dancing competition and displays.  We bought tickets for the final night of the festival at the nearby stadium and were treated to several hours of dancing and hip wiggling.  Utterly fantastic!  Whilst we were not allowed to photograph the show, where the dance troupes numbered several hundred dancers, we managed get a few photos of a dancing event near the market:

We’ll remember Tahiti for all the gorgeous flowers.  The garlands are made and sold locally at the market.  Here are just a few of the many we saw:
