Hiking and swimming around Spanish Waters

This is a really good place to be as we get on top of our jobs list.  Not only are we surrounded by cruising friends, but there is an excellent supermarket and laundry nearby, as well as choice of well-stocked chandleries, all accessible via the daily free cruisers’ bus – a brilliant service.

Among the various permitted anchorages in Spanish Waters there has been a re-grouping of cruising friends from Bonaire (Sadiqi, Paw Paw, Cattiva, Eye Candy and Capisce), so a social time is guaranteed which is great after a day of boat jobs.  Having returned with the usual mountain of boat spares, there are a fair few on the list (especially as our time in Bonaire was spent largely exploring underwater). So it’s not all work and no play.  We’ve been on a couple of hikes organised by fellow cruisers - to the Jan Thiel area of the island and all the way in to Willemstad as well.  We’ve also explored the hiking trails around Spanish Waters and viewed Macushla from the peak.

We are also pleased to report that the daily swim is back on the agenda after checking out a lovely, calm and secluded bay by dinghy and Sue got to ‘road test’ her new bikini (bikini count now up to 4 – essential for all those aquatic activities…)
