The other weekend we decided it was time for something different.  Having seen a short advert on the local bus, we were keen to see the Carabosse Fire Garden – a series of French fire sculptures at Auckland’s Domain making their first appearance in New Zealand and one of the events of the Arts Festival.

The fire sculptures were pretty amazing, comprising thousands of individual flames and fires, many in perpetual motion as part of kinetic installations.  Watching these dancing flames under a starlit sky was truly mesmerising and the atmospheric music being performed in various rotundas around the park enhanced the whole experience.  It really was an enchanting and unforgettable evening.
