All is well on board and we're set up for set up for another day of downwind, light airs sailing. So the kite is flying once again and we're sailing the rhumb line to Opua.
To keep Macushla moving in these light winds with flat seas we've deployed all manner of sail configurations on this passage. Sometimes a lot of effort for little gain. However more often than not skipper's sail choice has proven to be spot on and, once he's finished tweaking his 'bits of string' Macushla usually ups the pace.
The nights are getting cooler as we track south and there's definitely a need to wrap up warm for the late night watches. Oh yes, and the duvet is out of its vacuum packed storage bag.
