Afloat again and looking great
This week saw the completion of Macushla’s new teak toe rail and paintwork, which included additional Coppercoat along the newly raised waterline. Gleaming as never before, she was looking great; the riggers came to step her mast, the polished fairleads were put back in place and the Hydrovane stern gear was mounted. Everyone was bang on schedule and even the weather co-operated providing a calm and sunny day for re-launch. In no time at all Macushla was back in the water and safely berthed once again in Westhaven marina. So, a huge tick off the re-fit list, but still plenty to do… Having said a fond farewell to cats Jake and Finn, we are now coming to the end of our 2nd house sitting duties, where we have enjoyed looking after Douglas, a gorgeous King Charles Spaniel with heaps of character. We’ve been exploring all the wonderful nearby park areas and beaches with him, including the North Head Historic Reserve and the George Gair Lookout. This area of Belmont/Devonport is another delightful Auckland suburb. |
