We’d heard about the fine Botanical Gardens in Nevis and so decided to jump on a local bus and head over there.  On request, the local buses will venture off route (within reason) and drop you close to where you want to be.  This is significantly cheaper, and much more fun, than the alternative of taking a taxi.

We spent a great day strolling around the conservatory and beautiful gardens; a real oasis of calm with lots of shaded areas with seating suitably placed to allow you to enjoy the setting.  Lunch was a very enjoyable Thai meal at the Oasis restaurant served on the balcony of the old Plantation house overlooking the grounds, with views of the sea beyond.  All in all an excellent dayout.
