A prompt start from Port Washington ensured we arrived at the notorious Hell Gate as planned, just as the current had started to ebb.  We had the most awesome trip down East River, passing one spectacular Manhattan sight after another.  Sunshine and blue skies were an added bonus.  As we came to the end of Manhattan Island, we had our first glimpse of the impressive Statue of Liberty and were truly thrilled to be making this memorable trip aboard Macushla.

Our anchorage for the night is just off the Liberty State park, where from our cockpit we can see the statue peeking over the tree-lined promenade.  How amazing is that!
