Our electrical work and upgrades having been completed, we’re now in possession of our Warranty of Fitness.  Skipper has also upgraded our fuel filtering system and carried out an oil change too, so with boat jobs concluded for now, and it being a sunny day, we made for the Whangarei Falls Scenic Reserve.

The waterfall is an impressive 26 metres and there are various viewing platforms for that perfect shot, and a short loop walk through native bush leads to the bottom of the falls.  We continued our walk along the Hatea River to the AH Reed Kauri Park where you can get up close and personal to some of the giants of the New Zealand bush.  This remnant of original Kauri forest features a stunning canopy boardwalk among stately 500 year old Kauri trees.  Wonderful!
