North Sound, Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands
18:30.29N 64:22.34W We had another great sail up to the North Sound, Virgin Gorda and anchored off Leverick Bay for the night before moving to the anchorage off Prickly Pear Island. Some fairly strong winds were forecast and so we opted to anchor on the lee of the island and this was a comfortable spot, albeit a bit rolly during the day because of fast moving motor vessels. We had a very social time here, having decided to join the Cruising Association 2 Day Rendezvous which was hosted by Christopher Lloyd, the BVI HLR. We enjoyed two excellent lunches at Saba Rock and The Fat Virgin’s Café where we met Christopher and his wife Vivian. Four other ‘boats’ attended the rendezvous and it was great to meet up with friends old and new: Mark & Amanda on Balvenie, Rob & Sarah on Serafina, Lawrence & Ann on Hecuba and Martin & Tina on Petronella, whom we’d last seen in Lanzarote. We have been here for just over a week now and the time has flown by, but we have said our farewells as the forecast is looking good (with a rare break in the Trade winds) giving us an opportunity to make some easy easting. Sights around North Sound and having a farewell lunch with Martin and Tina – we’ll miss you |
