I am not sure if this is allowed if you can't speak the language but it looks like it will be the only way I can be on the winning side in the World Cup. The last time was of course 1966 when England beat Germany...........eventually. At that time I was a teenager on an archaeological dig in Cambridge with my sister Helen. Because we were camping there was no television. These were the days when colout TV was virtually non existent and the only satellites were taking monkeys from Whipsnade on day trips.

There was a very old (he was at least 26) cool guy camping with us who persuaded me to join him knocking on doors on a housing estate until we found a family who let us watch the match. The owner of the house was a coach driver who went off in the coach after the match to buy us all fish and chips. I thought that was pretty cool at the time. That's enough nostalgia.

The atmosphere in the restaurant where we watched the match was brilliant and the noise terrific. Because they had air horns and those vasectomy things at the previous match I took the fog horn from Minka with me. The noise was so terrific when Spain scored it completely drowned out the fog horn. Our Spanish friend Sebastian took it and kept on blowing it for the rest of the match. The car horns were continuously hooting in Mazarron into the early hours of the morning. Not much stiff upper lip with the Spanish.

Hopefully the final will be another great match and of course a my new adopted country will win the Cup.
