The last few days we seem to have been headed by
winds. We also had to wait for the canal bridge to open coming out of the Mar
Menor. In the book it says it opens hourly in summer and on even hours in
winter..........it is still winter. Very light winds on the way to Torrievieja
but we managed to sail. There are three marinas there so we picked the posh new
empty one. They are likely to stay empty at their prices. The restaurant was
more switched on with two meals for the price of one. It is a good job I had
John with me or I would soon be rather large. It took us ages to find a
supermarket and most locals denied they had one.
Yesterday we left there to start making our way
back south to Mazarron where I will be leaving Minka when I fly home on
Saturday. We got back to Puerto de Tomas Maestre after a very slow sail against
the wind.
Today (Wednesday) we left there and headed south.
We could just sail our course with lightish winds. When we got to the Cabo de
Palos Lighthouse the winds built up to an F7 which was great but unfortunately
it was on our nose. As I didn't fancy a long slog into the weather we came into
Cabo de Palos again. We have had a good walk around the headland to the
lighthouse and I took a few photos of rock formations and so on.
   I hope we get a wind shift tonight so we can sail
to Catagena (17 nm) or Mazarron (32 nm) tomorrow.
