These mountain villages are set in the most spectacular countryside. Driving is quite scary as there are lots of hairpin bends with sheer drops. The roads are very well maintained and far better than you would expect in such an isolated place.
 
 
You actually look down on the wind generators which sound just like jet engines but much quieter.
 
 
The villages themselves are interesting and are known for textiles, ham and cheese.
 
 
The streets are narrow and some have streams running down the centre in a channel.
