Inskip Point which is about 60km by road, 10km as the crow flies, from Tin Can Bay.  There is supposed to be a ‘all tree’ which, according to the coastguard, lines up with one of the turning points across The Bar.  Needless to say we couldn’t see it.   The leading lines for one of the turns you have to make across the Bar.  There are three, one crosses the bar, the other two are for a dog leg turn in deep water of a wide channel.  Unfortunately you can’t really see the lines easily so you have to go by way points.

It was a lovely calm day.  The bar is behind me, to the right.  You can just about make out breaking waves in the water on the left which marks inner shallow water, hence the dog leg.

Pristine beach, with sand flies, mosquitos and of course tyre tracks.

Wonder why?

One of the ferries that go to Fraser Island goes from the point.  To get to the ferry you have to drive across sand bar.  I wouldn’t let Paul go on the road, had the ebbie jeebies just looking at it.  Just as well as when we got there, about 5 off-roaders had got stuck in the sand.

Hilariously, this off-roader was supposed to be the lead vehicle.  You can hire a car and then go on a guided tour (Rainbow Tours) following the ‘lead’.  Double hilariously, the rescue truck came out (red), attached a line to this guy and then got himself stuck.

Paul having a chin wag with one of the guys on ‘tour’, from Essex!

Driven by a lady and straight through. Yah.  Foot down, don’t stop and straight through.

And no amount of pushing will get you out of this hole.

This Toyota on the RHS, rescued the white car on the right, the rescue truck (red) on the left, the car the rescue car was recuing etc.  And he’d just come down to take a look!

The roll on, roll off ferry.

And straight off the beach.

Celebration from the girls as their ‘lead’ finally got free.
