Scenery on the way to Whakapapa, in the Tangariro National Park, and in the distance….. Mt Doom …….

Mt Ruapehu covered in snow and cloud.  Whilst doing a little detour, I cannot remember why – oh yes the train… Raurimu spiral – another of those railway loops that you really cannot see.  This time a model.  We were none the wiser either.

Went to turn car around and see if we could get a better look at the spiral and lo, NZ rails answer to reduced passenger numbers.
