On the road to Matheson one way under the Hawkes Crag.  View of the U bend in the Buller River at this point.

Paul messing about on the bridge waiting for those trucks….

This viewpoint for earthquake slump.

Before we reached Matheson had to visit the epicentre of the 1929 earthquake. $5 to cross the swing bridge to visit the site.  Not Paul’s finest moment. On the way across a couple of lads came onto the bridge as Paul was about a quarter of the way in and started jumping up and down.  So there is Paul yelling at me to ‘ Go on… keep moving…’ and him hanging on for dear life.  Was funny though.  There was also a zip wire here, so I offered Paul the chance to get back across the river that away.  I will not repeat what he said.  I thought it would be fun though.

Once across we started the hunt for the faultline.  It was not obvious.

We were walking up the displacement from this point.

Believe this is it..

Whilst here decided to go on a jet boat.  The jet boat and the Buller River, or a bit of it anyway.

This is the mad … who drove it and Paul, looking cool after his ordeal.

The first 360 we did I thought he was telling us to wave to the people on the brige.  After that Paul reiforced the signal by telling me to hold on evry time.  Me and hm in the back seat hjaving fun..

The fault again, you can see the left has been uplifted compared to the right.  Lovely pink granite.  You can see the fractures in the rock here.

These shots are after the jet ride.  Paul is still yelling at me not to stop and he finally gets off ….
