Passage To The Galapagos Islands Day 5

We left the Las Perlas Islands heading for Galapagos at 10.00 am local time Panama on the 2 Mach 2012.

Day 5 Distance to go, 382 miles.

Log reading now 13318

Distance through the water was only 106 miles, and distance over the ground was 101 miles.

Noon to Noon on the 6th March 12

Very little wind throughout the day and night again, so we have made yet again very slow progress towards Galapagos. However we have managed to get some sailing done over the last 24 hours

When we do motor we are still keeping the engine RPM down at the 2,200 level to conserve fuel as we still have a long way to go!!!

Today we passed through another line squall, not so much rain and less thunder and lightning, still dramatic and right above us.

Not much wildlife so far other than sea birds and a small pod of dolphins.

Still not caught any more fish, so it will be meat or rice again!!!

All the other boats in the group have now set off.

Marita 3 left about three hours before us, 2nd March, and they are now on the 6th March 53 miles behind us.

Karacool left on the 3rd March and they are now on the 6th March 123 miles behind us.

Camelot left 3rd March and they are now on the 6th March 145 miles behind us.

Like us, the rest of the group are doing a combination of sailing and motor sailing, and all like us are make slow but steady progress towards Galapagos.

Next report on the 7th.
