We went down to Victoria for Christmas and babysat a small
farm for friends of the people we spent Christmas day with. The place was about
3 hours north of Melbourne near a town called Benalla. The property was about
200 acres – small for around here, Gowangardie, where Merry and Gary live was
2000 acres. Here are a few pictures of the place, starting at the front of
the house:
The veranda goes all the way around the house. Unusually this
house has a slate roof, most of the old houses you see have a tin roof.
The veranda is tin.
Around the back of the house was courtyard, surrounded on
three sides by the house, was a small courtyard. This is where we spent most of
our time. Where Stephen is sitting is an extension between two wings. Originally
the RHS, where we slept, was for cooking and the LHS for living. People were
really worried about fires so kept the two functions as separate as
possible.
Then there was the pool.
Just some of the pot plants that needed watering.
