Passage to Port Moselle, New Caledonia

Day 5

We left Fiji at 13.30 local time on Monday the 3 September 2012, after clearing out with the Customs office in Lautoka, Fiji. We are heading for our next island called New Caledonia for the Port Moselle.

Log reading at noon is 18913

Noon to Noon distance 156 miles

Distance to go 116 miles.

So we should make port mid afternoon on the 8th, as it is about another 30 miles from our way point at the bottom of the island to the marina Port Moselle.

Wind is now a steady 20 to 25 with the occasional gust up to 36 knots.
The sea is still big sea with about a 3.5 m swell.

Shipping

A 198 m long cargo vessel overtook us during the night passing just 0.5 miles off our starboard side.

Wildlife

Rhu has just seen a pod of about 20 Dolphins pass to our stern, but they did not come to play in our bow wave.
