Stayed an extra day at Merl because we wanted to see the basket weaving demonstration being held here.  In the morning we went to Cahill crossing on the East Alligator River.

Fishermen are evrywhere near water.  This guy must be nuts as the river is full of crocodiles.

A car cruising the crossing!

We shouldn’t have bothered staying for the basket weaving.  How not to run a demonstration.  I want you to learn respect for these ladies.  Today’s session is all about respect for the weaving.  Shocking and never did learn how to split a pandanus leaf.  Total waste of time.  Think someone needs to teach them about environmental education and what not to do.  I suppose they never get bad press because it’s always new people who slope away like I did or stick it out to the bitter end, never to return.  The only thing I learnt was disrespect for the ranger, Annie.

Here’s aboriginal lady, Susan, who wouldn’t look at anyone, with a pile of pandanus in front of her.

Here’s Paul before he sloped off in disgust.
