Stopped at this old railway bridge – the Stoney Creek Trestle bridge – an historical site – the largest still standing bridge of its type in Victoria.  What is amazing is that the trestles are single logs.  Built of red ironbark and grey box timber from trees that were on site.  The bridge was built in 1916 when the existing railway line from Melbourne to Bairnsdale was extended to Orbost - a mere 97km extension.  This railway was reportedly the most difficult to build in Victoria because of the rugged terrain.  The last train crossed the bridge in 1988.  Its 247m long
