Since had so much rain – yes it is still raining – visited the Wollomombi (pronounced Wallamombi), Ebor and Baker’s Creek Falls.  These waterfalls and gorges are on the eastern side of the New England Tableland plateau.   The Wollomombi Falls are the third largest in Australia.  To the right of them are the Chandler Falls and Gorge:

Paul’s obsession with BBQs continues.

Paul and I at the Dingo fence which ran through the park.

We think this is a termite mound but have not dared to give them a poke yet.  Besides which, ’don’t disturb nature’.

Looking down to the bottom of the gorge.

Ebor Falls, there are two of them, upper and lower falls, at the southern end of Guy Fawkes River National Park – so called because someone camped there on Guy Fawkes night!  Two lava events with sedimentary deposits between, the latter have been eroded away, leaving two sets of falls.  The lower set obscured by the pouring rain in the second photo.

Baker’s Creek Falls:

Baker’s Creek Falls near a couple of defunct towns called Metz and Hillgrove.  These were both towns that serviced the gold and antimony mining industry in the late 1800s.  This is the Hillgrove Rural Life and Industry Museum.  Closed on the day we visited but housed in the old school house:

Here’s a better picture of a school weather room:

Here’s a great picture of a sign once indicating ESSO garage.

The rivers in this area are well known for trout fishing (Vince).  The NSW fisheries have a couple of trout hatcheries to keep the rivers stocked up.  Here’s Paul feeding the rainbow trout at the LP Dutton Trout Hatchery.  We managed to get a pensioners discount here.

These are aerators not pedalows.
