10/9/11 – 13/9/11 Portimao to Porto Santo.

Left Portimao Saturday 10th September with Marita III at about 1000.  Little wind at first, motored past Cabo do Sao Vicente and through the shipping lanes before we started to sail.  Wind mostly N/NE, F4-5.  Wind seems to always pickup during the night.  Doing 3hr shifts through the night, which seems to be just enough to get some sleep.  Apart from a few birds no sign of any wildlife.  Tied up by 2130 so took us about 3.5 days.  Arrived just as sun going down and moon rising so although dark when we tied up we could at least see layout before it got dark.  Tried to get onto one pontoon but wind blowing us off and we slammed anchor into post so we berthed on reception pontoon – only to be moved back to pontoon two places down from where we had tried to tie up the previous night .  Marita III arrived at 2am.

Porto Santo in the distance as Sun starts to set.
