Arrived Ayers Rock Campground, at Yulara, in late afternoon.  Handed back to the aboriginals in 1985, and then leased back to the Director of National Parks, now called Uluru.  This is Mount Conner which a lot of people, apparently, think is Uluru from a distance.  Imagine that’s a tad embarrassing when pointed out that it is not.  It’s about three times the size of Uluru.

Too late to buy a park pass so dipped into the resort before crashing out.  Caught this bird eating some sort of squash (I think), it might be a paddy melon but the ones I’ve seen in text books are yellow. The bird is the white plumed honeyeater (Lichenostomus penicillatus), common and quite distinctive with the white and black slash.  Noisy critters.
