22nd July – 24th July

 

Left Savusavu early Sunday morning.  Little wind, motor-sailed to Bua (Mbua) Bay (south western coast near the western point of Vanua Levu).  Lots of reefs around the entrance which meant calm inside.  Anchored in about 7m in mud.  Beautiful calm evening and no rocking of boat at all during the night.  Up early the next morning, again little wind, motor-sailed across Bligh water entering the reefs on the northern coast of Viti Levu.  Anchored in a large bay again little wind.  Anchorages this side of the island are considerable distance off shore.  Little wind again overnight.  Motored to Vuda Point marina on Tuesday for lift out on Wednesday (25th July).  Parted company with Karacool as they went to Musket Cove.

This is either Karacool at anchor or stuck on the edge of a reef in uncharted bay we stayed in Monday evening.  Either way, they got off safely with no damage to boat – well a little scrape!.

The entrance to Vuda Marina.  You should see this a low water!  The marina is actually a circular hole dug out of the coral.  On arrival we were told to tie up to red buoy.  Unfortunately no-one said that the red buoy was in the middle of the marina, we spent a good 20 minutes drudging up and down the entrance before deciding to come in anyway.  Once in the entrance, no going back as not enough room to turn around.  Club bar is to the LHS.
