Passage To Niue

Day 6, 17 June 2012

We left Bora Bora at 10.00 local time which is - 11 hours (behind) UTC (GMT), on Tuesday the 12 June 12, heading for our next island called Niue

Day 6

Log reading at noon is 16785

Noon to Noon distance through the water = 137 miles

Distance to go 466 miles

Noon to Noon distance over the ground = 127 miles

As yesterday, the wind maintained 12 to 16 knots until about 14.00 and then started to drop and at 18.00 with the wind between 4 to 6 knots and a boat speed of between 2 to 3 knots, the iron sail was turned on yet again and we started to motor. However we did manage to start sailing again at 00.00 but still not a good day mileage wise

Wildlife report

Again a few sea birds have been seen, and we are also now starting to see flying fish again, but not much else.

Ship report

Karacool (53 foot Cat) is now 14 miles ahead of us.

We are starting to get a few commercial vessels pass us, but not close enough to see by eye but only pick up on the AIS. We have a vessel described as a "PLEASE CRAFT" to our port side about 15 miles away.

However with dimensions of 75 m long and 10 m wide, with a draft of 6.5 m it is one hell of a sized pleasure craft!!!

Next report at noon on the 19 June 12
