Passage To Hiva Oa in the Marquesas Islands Day 20
We left Puerto Ayora Galapagos Island heading for Hiva Oa in the Marquesas Islands at 08.00 am local time UTC (GMT) - 6 hours on Sunday the 18 Mach 2012.
Day 20 Distance to go, 711 miles.

We have been sailing the last 24 hours with the cruising shoot up. The wind has been fairly steady at between 10 to 15 knots from astern all night. With the wind in this direction it does not make for a fast boat speed, but at least we are still plodding on towards our destination.
We had a glorious night last night, with a totally clear sky, and almost a full moon. It was like sailing in day light.
The sea state is now smooth to moderate with a swell running of about 3.00 m.
Wildlife report
Flying fish and some sea birds, but not much else.
Shipping report
No vessel seen so a peaceful night had by all .
Fishing report
Fishing lure replaced this morning with a lure called a Rapala Skiterpop, coloured Pearl and Orange. This lure is supposed to imitate an injured fish on the surface.
According to the writing on the box, it imitates an injured fish and is particularly effective when fish are aggressively hunting on the surface.
We wait and see!!!
Fleet Positions
Karacool set off with us, and her position is 90 miles ahead of us.
Camelot set off on Tuesday and is now ? miles behind us. (no position report). They have withdrawn from the radio net, claiming that reception is poor, and they are getting frustrated not hearing everybody very well. They are from Norway!!!
Marita 3 set off on Tuesday and is now 448 miles behind us.
Next report on the 7th April.
