Rodney Bay Marina Rodney Bay St Lucia

Rodney Bay Marina St Lucia is where we had arranged to have the parts sent to and the generator repaired.

I am not sure if I had mentioned that we had a problem with the generator in Antigua between Christmas and the New Year. The impeller failed causing the generator to shut
down due to excessive exhaust temperature due to lack of water.

The rubber part of the impeller had parted from its brass centre so it did not turn and hence did not pump water. On replacing the impeller the exhaust temperature sensor had
also failed, and the electronics would not allow it to start. This sensor could not be bypassed, so had to be replaced. None of the agents here carry this part, so it had to be
sent over from Germany. At least it was done under warranty!!!

It turned out that the repair guy from Regis Electronics knew what he was doing, and also found the exhaust valve due to a badly adjusted rocker arm, was not closing
correctly so the compression was not very high, and the engine struggled to start. This adjustment was done at the factory where the generator was made, so to say the least I
was not very impressed with Fischer Panda.

We also replaced the alternator on the DuoGen as the bearing had started to rumble. I had a spare set also sent out with the new alternator, so these will be replaced and we
will then have a spare.

So St Lucia turned out to be more of a repair stop than a rest stop.

Picture will follow when we get Wi-Fi
