Sailed west all of 8.5 miles from Baie Du Controleur on the south east corner of Nuku-Hiva to Taiohae, the capital of the Marquesas. It's a capital in that it's the main settlement of the Marquesas and centre of administration, but in European terms it's still only a small village. We're anchored in about 45ft of water well out into the bay, which is big compared to the other bays we've anchored in (it's about 3/4 mile across). Just as well as there are 30 other yachts here. It's the main port of the Marquesas and very well protected on 3 sides, so a lot of boats either make landfall here from the Galapagos or depart from here when they leave these islands. We arrived late afternoon so haven't been ashore yet. Hope to explore ashore and start re-provisioning tomorrow.
