Left Nuku-Hiva just before midday and on passage bound for the Tuamotu Islands about 530 miles to the south west. So far the winds have been light, but it's now 20.30 local time and with the darkness (around 18.00) squalls have gathered. Just partly dodged one (a huge black cloud) that increased the winds from 12 to 23kts. It's impossible to tell how much wind they will generate, you just have to make a judgment on how much to reef and make a sharp turn downwind if you get it wrong! So far so good.
