We are back in Port Moselle, Noumea, very grateful to the marina for finding a berth for us yesterday and today. We had a pleasant sail from Baie Anse Majic to Baie de l’Orphelinat where we were planning to celebrate Bill’s birthday with a meal out and then prepare for leaving New Caledonia. Not a success. Strong winds, big fetch, squally showers and no way we could get ashore remotely dry. No chance of doing any washing and several dinghy trips would be needed to shop, check out etc. A call to the marina at 08.00 sharp produced an instant return call from Skipper’s new “bestie”, Carol and the same berth that we had before. Wonderful.

Now washing done and great meal out courtesy of Jane yesterday. Boat jobs sorted today thanks to Bill, shopping done by Ship’s Boy and Jane in the market today while Skipper and Wife walked to Immigration, Customs and Capitainerie, strictly in that order or no go, to check out with a departure date of 07.00am tomorrow.

Now as full of water as we want to be, planning to put some duty free fuel in tomorrow am as may be motoring for some of the trip to Mackay, route entered on the Garmin and a reasonable forecast given. Nothing left to do but spend whatever “Chuffers” we have left in the Marina bar, shower and get a good night’s sleep. Or maybe not. We have one or two “worriers” on board!
