We got to Port Whangarei after about 30 hours of non stop travelling and then had 3 days of partial recovery. Lovely to meet up with Kate and Steve (Blue Summit), probably the last of the WARC 2016 fleet apart from us still in New Zealand. We enjoyed 2 excellent meals with them and exchanged notes and guidebooks on the Hauraki Gulf and South Island, as they are heading for the former and us for the latter. Blue skies after heavy showers and warm, muggy conditions while England enjoys unseasonable cold and snow, we move from Alcedo to the Motorhome, after delivery and induction from Philip and Wendy of Whangarei Motorhomes.

Saturday evening after driving south through Aukland and on to 15 Manuka Terrace, Mangakino, to spend a night with Margaret and James (Fraser). It was such fun to catch up with them and enjoy their wonderful hospitality in exchange for news about the family at home, most of it unembellished.

Next morning and a brief visit to Lake Maraetai, still shrouded in mist...
