It was a very wet night at Owen River Country Park, so parking just off the track into the park was a wise precaution.

...and some parts even being washed away.

The closer we got to Motueka, the worse the conditions and we later discovered that the Takaka Road had been partially destroyed in previous rains and was only open for 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. As this is the only road into the park and we had very limited time, we booked a guided walk with transport for the following day and spent the night in a very overcrowded campsite, the only free one, just off the beach in Motueka, definitely not worth a photograph!
