We are now in the southern-most Bahamas where a chain of small islands extends southwards and a little to the east. The only inhabited island in this chain is Ragged Island, with Duncan Town a small settlement of around 100 hardy souls being just about as far south as you can reach in the Bahamas.

We spent one night on the banks near Hog Cay Cut a tiny shallow pass that leads onto the banks just south of George Town. The next morning we part motored and part sailed  to Water Cay, the first island in the Jumento chain where we stopped for lunch before heading on to Flamingo Cay for the night.

After a squall went through at 0415 the next morning which had us running round the boat closing hatches we headed off the banks at Brig Cut (v.lumpy) in the hope of catching fish. This resulted in a slam bang motor sail to windward and the loss of a large lure to something we would probably rather not have to deal with on the back deck! We re-entered the banks again at Nurse Channel and spent last night at Buenavista Cay which is our current position. We hope to make the 80 mile or so passage to northern Cuba in the next day or so depending on the weather forecast.
