We left South Bimini just before 0800 on Thursday 7th January and motor-sailed throughout the day across the Great Bahama Bank towards the Northwest Channel entrance from the Tongue of the Ocean. We exited the Bank just after dark motoring into deep water again, passing the southern Berry Islands of Chub Cay and Frazer Hog Cay before turning into the north east and heading across the North West Providence Passage towards Great Abaco Island, which we approached just before a stunning sunrise. The final leg was the 30 odd mile motor in calm seas up to Little Harbour the first secure location inside the Sea of Abaco where we picked up a mooring just after midday on the 8th. In total we had traveled 160 miles since leaving Bimini, the weather window having worked perfectly for the passage, even if it was motoring all the way. A quick trip ashore for a Rum Blaster and to pay for the mooring at Pete's Pub and it was early to bed.

Today we are awaiting the arrival of a strong cold front with possible 30-40 knot winds so it's time to batten down the hatches for a few days whilst this nasty weather clears through, probably by Mon/Tue when we will move on towards Hope Town for some much needed provisions. Still, at least we are warm - reports from Florida indicate it was sleeting in Titusville this morning andonly 20 degrees F in Lake Worth and of course the UK weather we dare not mention!
