Caroni Swamp

Home of the national bird of Trinidad and Tobago, every evening at dusk the Scarlet Ibis return to a few small Island in the Caroni Swamp, so a trip down the river where we can see night egrets, owls, crabs and sleeping snakes, we tie up to a post and watch the green island in front of us turn into a spectacle of deep red as the sun begins to set.  The same trees are also the overnight home of the white egrets and for 30 mins there is a wonderful display of sound and colour.

My little camera maybe does not do the scenery justice, maybe we should upgrade…..
